Yussuf did not disappoint! Yussuf arranged for an early morning pickup at the airport. He was very patient while we checked into the hotel. Since the room wasn’t available yet, we started the Stone Town walking tour straight away. Yussuf was very knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and spoke very good English. We were undecided about what we wanted to do on the second day but Yussuf was very flexible and arranged a trip to Prison Island and Nakupenda Sand Bank on very short notice. On the third day we wanted a free day to shop for souvenirs and go to a late lunch at The Rock restaurant. I mentioned our plans to Yussuf and he volunteered to make arrangements for our transportation to and from the restaurant. He sent photos of the car that would be picking us up and the driver’s name. Ramadan, the driver, was also very knowledgeable, pointing out interesting things along the way. Yussuf checked in with us to make sure all was going well. To top it off, not only did he arrange for transport back to the airport the next morning, but came with the driver to ensure all went well. I can’t recommend Yussuf enough. Questions via email and WA were answered very fast and so we decided to have Yussuf as our private tour guide.

Finally we booked the transport from the airport to the hotel at Nungwi, two day tours (Prison Island + Stone-Town and Jozani Forest), and a 2-day safari in Mikumi.

Upon our (2h delayed) arrival at the airport, he was waiting for us and took us in an air-conditioned van to our hotel in Nungwi, far in the north of the island, about 1.5 hour drive from the airport.
On the way to the hotel he explained us the plan for the coming days.

Yussuf is a great and friendly guide, and arranged everything perfectly. He planned the tours to our schedules. He was always available via WA and all tours started on time.
He is the right person to organize an unforgettable vacation in Zanzibar.
We were lucky to have him as our tour guide during our vacation in Zanzibar.

Here are some personal impressions of our tours:
-- Prison Island - Nice but overcrowded
-- Snorkeling - Book only at low tide
-- Stone Town - Great!
-- Mikumi Safari - Really great if you book incl. domestic flights (2 x 40 minutes), going by car takes too long.
-- Jozani Forest - Yussuf waits in the taxi, you will get a special Jozani tour guide
-- Swimming with turtles (Baraka Natural Aquarium) - Overcrowded and absolutely no recommendation, better save your money.

Yussuf arrived very promptly on the day and explained exactly what we would do. The tour itself was very detailed with lots of detail explained about the local areas we were taken to and the town itself. Perhaps most poignant was the history about the East African slave trade which if it wasn't for the tour we may have bypassed as it is a little further out of the main centre.

Overall the tour was a fantastic way to see Stonetown, we went through spice markets, winding streets, historical forts and various other locations all of which were explained really well. Our advice is start early, it gets very very hot and humid towards midday!

If you are in Stonetown then do not hesitate to use Yussuf’s services, you won’t regret it!
