We had a wonderful, personalized snorkeling experience and saw beautiful fish and starfish like we have never seen before. He contracted with a local fisherman to take us out, and accompanied us on the boat, on the east side of the island. We requested to go to the Rock Restaurant for lunch and he made the reservation, and made sure we had nice seating while there. We continued to the north beaches, and did some walking and swimming there. The driver he chose was also excellent. He is knowledgeable, friendly, has a good sense of humor, and is a graciously host on this beautiful island!

Yussuf did not disappoint! Yussuf arranged for an early morning pickup at the airport. He was very patient while we checked into the hotel. Since the room wasn’t available yet, we started the Stone Town walking tour straight away. Yussuf was very knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and spoke very good English. We were undecided about what we wanted to do on the second day but Yussuf was very flexible and arranged a trip to Prison Island and Nakupenda Sand Bank on very short notice. On the third day we wanted a free day to shop for souvenirs and go to a late lunch at The Rock restaurant. I mentioned our plans to Yussuf and he volunteered to make arrangements for our transportation to and from the restaurant. He sent photos of the car that would be picking us up and the driver’s name. Ramadan, the driver, was also very knowledgeable, pointing out interesting things along the way. Yussuf checked in with us to make sure all was going well. To top it off, not only did he arrange for transport back to the airport the next morning, but came with the driver to ensure all went well. I can’t recommend Yussuf enough.   Excellent Beyond words - We spent 4 days out of our 14 with Yussuf, what a brilliant way to explore the Island, we wanted a local knowledgeable guide and he didn’t disappoint. ... read more /> Yussuf knew so much Zanzibar’s history and answered our many questions with ease. Yussuf couldn’t do enough for us, always on time and Mukrim was his right hand man, driving us to wherever we wanted. Yussuf helped us to plan our itinerary, making suggestions and recommendations and when we were unable to book the Rock Restaurant online or via telephone, he sorted it out for us, getting us a table at the last minute we were very lucky!
Yussuf’s communication was brilliant, he let us know if traffic was heavy and if he was going to be delayed (only due to a President visit and the Police slowing down traffic for checks).
We enjoyed some excellent trips, Prison Island, a sunset boat trip at Nungwi, a private trip to Prison Island, a private tour of one of the spice farms and an amazing walking guide through Stone Town - what a city to explore, we did a second evening visit and felt safe through every part of the tour. We cannot thank Yussuf and Mukrim enough for their friendship, chilled personalities and patience, their sense of humour was brilliant and not only did we have serious, historic conversations but a lot of laughter too- exactly what we wanted from our personal guides.
